Forging new directions in medicine

Take one look at today's newspaper and it's clear that infectious diseases are dramatically touching the lives of people all over the world. Concern about infectious agents of bioterrorism, the development of resistant infectious agents and the emergence of unknown diseases, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) has garnered worldwide attention. Meanwhile, the use of immunosuppressive agents and the AIDS pandemic continues unabated.

The Division of Infectious Diseases aims to have an impact on these issues by:
  • Enhancing our educational programs
  • Further integrating clinical medicine and basic science
  • Advancing our current clinical knowledge and translational and basic research

Among the division's major efforts toward these goals is the creation of The Center for Microbial Interface Biology, an interdisciplinary collaboration among investigators campuswide and the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit, a National Institutes of Health-designated research site for the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

Want to be a part of this dynamic environment? If you're a patient we hope you seek our services and care in our clinics.

If you're seeking an innovative fellowship program, we invite you to explore these pages and learn all that we have to offer.
