The Biomedical Science major is designed to prepare students for a variety of graduate and professional programs. Approximately 50% of the alumni enter medical school, 25% enter research-focused programs (i.e., MD/PhD or PhD), and the remaining 25% enter healthcare-related programs (e.g., dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, public health, etc.). While most alumni enter an area of patient care or research, some have also entered graduate programs in business, hospital administration, and law.

The "Big 3" for BMS alumni will likely always be medical school, graduate school (PhD in an area of biomedical science), and the dual MD/PhD.
