DHLRI Flow Core
The Core’s self-service model enables trained researchers to operate instruments independently, with support available for panel design, troubleshooting, or hands-on assistance at the bench. In addition to instrument access, the Core offers assisted cell sorting, data acquisition, and ongoing technical guidance.
The facility serves researchers from DHLRI, the broader Ohio State community, and external collaborators, providing a centralized resource to support high-quality, reproducible flow cytometry at accessible rates.

Flow Core Information
Cytek Northern Lights Flow Cytometer
The Cytek Northern Lights is equipped with red, blue, and violet lasers (405, 488, 640 nm) and 38 fluorescence channels. It utilizes Full Spectrum Profiling and Spectral Unmixing technology to enable high-dimensional analysis with panels of 25 or more biological markers. This platform is ideal for multicolor immunophenotyping, stem cell characterization, and other applications requiring detailed cellular analysis.
Cytek Aurora Cell Sorter
The Cytek Aurora CS is a spectral cell sorter designed for isolating defined cell populations into collection tubes of multiple sizes (1.5-, 5-, and 15-mL). It shares the same three-laser, 38-channel configuration as the Northern Lights, allowing researchers to optimize multicolor panels on the user-friendly Northern Lights before sorting. The Aurora can sort up to six populations simultaneously and supports multiple nozzle diameters for various cell sizes.
NanoFCM
Located separately, on the 5th floor of the Pelotonia Research Center, the NanoFCM is a high-resolution cytometer for analyzing nanoparticles ranging from 7 to 1000 nm in size. It is equipped with a cyan 488‑nm laser and three detectors: side scatter (SSC) for particle sizing, fluorescence at 525 nm (e.g., FITC/GFP), and fluorescence at 660 nm (e.g., PerCP). This platform is used for extracellular vesicles, viral particles, and other nanoscale analyses, enabling high throughput and precise characterization of size, concentration, and fluorescence properties at the single-particle level.
**Basic data analysis services are available upon request. However, researchers are encouraged to seek additional expertise for critical data or data intended for publication.
