Project Title: The EDGE Consortium: A Randomized Trial of Preoperative Prophylactic Antibiotics Prior to Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy in Patients with Moderate Risk of Postoperative Infection

Description: Currently, the field of Urology does not have a standard pre-operative antibiotic treatment for patients about to receive an operative stone treatment called Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL). This is a multi-institutional trial, with participating sites spanning the US and Canada, that will assist us in finding out what the best course of preoperative antibiotics are for patients undergoing this procedure.
Project Title: Prospective Trial of a Reusable Digital Flexible Ureteroscope vs a Single-Use Flexible Ureteroscope in the Treatment of Urolithiasis: An EDGE Consortium Clinical Trial

Description: With technology evolving rapidly and constantly, it is up to us to ensure we are using the best products possible for our patients! This multi-institutional trial is comparing the use of a single-use flexible ureteroscope and a reusable ureteroscope during stone treatment. Both scopes are FDA approved and currently used throughout the Wexner Medical Center and The James.

Project Title: A Multi-Center Study of Pelvic Fracture Urethral Injury

Description: This is a multi-institutional clinical trial comparing the practice of early urethral realignment and urinary diversion with a suprapubic tube with a planned delayed urethroplasty. Both forms of treatment are currently considered “standard of care” treatment for urethral injuries, but this trial aims to determine if one has better outcomes than the other.
