Annual Showcase:

The Ohio State Physician Scientist Showcase celebrates the achievements of the Ohio State physician scientist community.  

Currently in its inaugural year, this annual event will showcase the highlights and impact of the programming and support provided by the Office of Physician Scientist Education & Training (PSET), recognize the breadth of physician scientist accomplishments and support across The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and strengthen connections, visibility, and collaboration within the physician scientist community. 

Event Details and Registration: 

  • Date: Thursday, October 1, 2026   
  • Time: 12:00PM to 6:00PM   
  • Location: Hamilton Hall Forum (1645 Neil Ave.)  Buffet-style lunch, drinks, snacks, and desserts will be provided.

A celebratory recognition segment highlighting the accomplishments and contributions of our physician scientist community members over the past year. Attendees are invited to stand and be recognized for significant achievements, including publications, grant funding, promotions and tenure, awards and honors, mentorship contributions, and mentee career successes. 

5:20 PM Physician Scientist Showcase Awards

Six awards to showcase the outstanding achievements, leadership, scholarship, mentorship, and service of members of the physician scientist community. These awards recognize individuals across all career stages whose contributions have advanced research, education, mentorship, community building, and the physician scientist ecosystem at Ohio State.

  • Distinction in Physician Scientist Mentorship Award
    Recognizes a physician scientist who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to mentoring trainees and early career faculty, fostering their professional growth and success in clinical, translational, and biomedical research. This award honors individuals whose sustained dedication to mentorship has helped develop the next generation of physician scientists.
  • Physician Scientist Peer Mentor of the Year Award
    Recognizes a physician scientist who provides outstanding mentorship to colleagues at a similar career stage rather than through a traditional senior-junior relationship.
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Ohio State PSET Community
    Recognizes an individual who has made exceptional contributions to strengthening, advancing, and elevating The Ohio State University physician scientist community through leadership, advocacy, partnership, innovation, and service.
  • Early Career Physician Scientist Emerging Achievement
    Recognizes an early career physician scientist who has demonstrated exceptional promise and achievement during the formative years of their academic career. Eligible individuals are within the first five years of their initial faculty appointment.
  • Excellence in Research & Scholarship Award
    Recognizes established physician scientists with a sustained record of excellence and impact. This award recognizes a mid-career physician scientist whose scholarship has made significant contributions to their field while enhancing Ohio State's research reputation.
  • Ohio State Physician Scientist Legacy Award
    Recognizes a physician scientist whose distinguished career has had a transformative and lasting impact on research, clinical care, education, and the physician scientist community. This award honors individuals with 25 or more years of service as a physician scientist and recognizes a significant body of work that has advanced their field and elevated the physician-scientist profession.
