The university has the nation's first-of-its-kind data analytics undergraduate program. This program allows trainees to do foundational training in biology, computer science, and statistics, and then further specialize in a number of areas (one of which is biomedical informatics). Details about the program can be found on its university webpage.
Junior and senior level undergraduate students in good academic standing are encouraged to enroll in our entry-level graduate courses:
BMI 5710: Introduction to Biomedical Informatics
BMI 5720: Imaging Informatics
BMI 5730: Introduction to Bioinformatics
BMI 5740: Introduction to Research Informatics
BMI 5760: Public Health Informatics
Please check the course requirements to see if you meet the minimum criteria to succeed in these classes. If you have any questions, feel free to email the course instructor directly or email bmi.education@osumc.edu.
Undergraduate Student Internship
In an effort to increase engagement with undergraduate students on campus, the Department of Biomedical Informatics offers a 12 week summer internship program. While this program is primarily geared towards undergraduate students (Ranks 1-4), high school students and graduate students are also encouraged to apply if they are interested in participating.
All student internship positions within the Department of Biomedical Informatics have the potential to be either paid or unpaid, depending on student experience levels. Most positions have the ability to transition into projects through the school year, turn into full-time student employment opportunities, and/or count for course credit, depending on performance.
Students interested in applying for the 2018 summer session should check back in late December of 2017 for details about available positions within BMI faculty's labs and the skill requirements.
Please note: You will need a copy of your most up-to-date resume, or other document, which can demonstrate your academic and research performance in order to complete the application form.
The application will be posted here starting in December 2017.
We post specific student assistant positions that are available here. However, other student employment and volunteering opportunities are available in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. If you are interested in working in our department or more specifically with one of our faculty members, please feel free to contact us:
