About our education programs in cardiovascular medicine
Within our fellowships, trainees have exposure to an unparalleled variety of disease pathology, mentored by strong clinician educators in all areas of cardiology and surgery. Our division presents tremendous opportunities to become involved in research during your fellowship training. Mentors are eager to help you succeed in pursuing an academic career in basic, translational or clinical investigation.
Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship
The objective of the Cardiovascular Fellowship program is to train young physicians in the field of cardiovascular medicine so that they develop the clinical skills necessary to become a competent cardiologist and the research skills required to be successful as an academic cardiologist.
Interventional Cardiology Fellowship
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine's Interventional Cardiology Fellowship is characterized by a well-rounded experience in clinical and investigative interventional and diagnostic techniques. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, the trainee will be board eligible in interventional cardiology.
Electrophysiology Fellowship
The philosophy of the Electrophysiology Fellowship program is to provide broad and high volume exposure to multiple clinical electrophysiology scenarios, allowing the fellows to achieve competency in both basic and advanced evaluation and treatment methods.
Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Fellowship
During this one-year fellowship, fellows will become adept in managing patients with acute and chronic congestive heart failure, evaluating for advanced therapies, such as short and long term mechanical support and managing pre- and post-cardiac transplant care.
Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship
The Columbus Ohio Adult Congenital Heart Disease (COACH) Fellowship Program offers two fully-funded, 24-month fellowship positions (one each year). The Schooler Family Foundation’s COACH Fellowship Program and hospital-based GME-funded fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is designed for those interested in a cardiovascular career specializing in the care of adults with congenital heart disease.
Cardiovascular Diagnostic Imaging Fellowship
The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Imaging Fellowship consists of 12-24 months of training conducted at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and includes hands-on supervised clinical training, research, formal didactics and interdisciplinary conferences.
