The Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program had another successful year.  In 2016, 27 PhDs were conferred. Students were awarded 22 intramural fellowships and 24 extramural fellowships.  130 students are currently enrolled in the Program; 18% are underrepresented in Medicine. ​​

31 new students joined the Program this year. These incoming students are an exceptional group. Here are a few highlights:

  • Five received prestigious University Fellowships from The OSU Graduate School
  • Six students are enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program
  • Average undergraduate GPA = 3.60
  • Average GRE scores = 73% (verbal), 69% (quantitative), and 64% (analytical writing); average MCAT percentile score average = 90%
  • 18 (58%) are women and 13 (42%) are men
  • 10% are underrepresented students

The theme of the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program is "The Biology of Human Disease." This graduate program trains students to investigate human disease through a process of integrating information across several traditional biomedical research disciplines. Our graduates possess a breadth of understanding for the mechanisms underlying human disease, which coupled with intensive integrative research training, positions our graduates for success in a wide range of career opportunities.
