About the Conference
Facial paralysis and synkinesis remain among the most functionally and emotionally significant conditions faced by our patients, yet the field's rapid evolution — in nerve transfer techniques, chemodenervation strategies, and rehabilitative science — can be difficult for any single practice to track alone. The Midwestern Facial Nerve Symposium, hosted by the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, is built around that reality. This CME course centers on collegial exchange: faculty will be presenting current evidence and technique alongside working case panels, inviting attendees to weigh in on diagnostic reasoning, surgical planning, and management trade-offs alongside the presenters. The program spans surgical interventions (such as nerve transfer, free muscle transfer, static suspension), nonsurgical and rehabilitative care, and the practical work of building and sustaining a multidisciplinary facial nerve program — including staffing, referral pathways, and long-term patient tracking.
Attendees
This course is designed for otolaryngologists, facial plastic surgeons, neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychology and primary care providers, and occupational and physical therapists. Chief residents, fellows and advanced practice providers from these specialties are also invited to attend.
