Our Curriculum

Our program subscribes to a clinical science model that integrates research and clinical practice. The internship is designed to provide trainees with opportunities to engage actively in the integration of clinical research and practice. We adhere to the principle that psychological practice is based on the science of psychology, which, in turn, is influenced by the professional practice of psychology. The members of our faculty are strong proponents and practitioners of evidence-based treatment and the expectation is that trainees will share that perspective in their application of clinical science to treatment intervention, as consumers of research, as well as choose to participate in clinical research projects.

Our Tracks

Electives

After the first three months of internship, interns have the option to select an elective. Electives take place on Wednesday mornings. The electives may be relatively brief experiences (e.g., co-leading a time limited group) or be of longer duration (e.g., providing psychotherapy for 2 – 3 patients with specialized needs over the course of a year). In the case of electives, the intern will need to be making good progress on their clinical and research rotations to take advantage of these additional experiences. Participation in electives must be approved by the intern’s supervisors and the Director of Clinical Psychology Training. Electives offered vary from year to year and will be discussed further during intern orientation.
