What is Research Computing Infrastructure (RCI)?
The Research Computing Infrastructure subcommittee of the Research Information Systems Steering Team reviews researcher requests for high performance computing resources and file storage. RCI leverages specialized training and offers guidance through policy to support researcher education and use of computing resources.
Why would you need to use Research Computing Infrastructure (RCI)?
Access to high performance computing resources and file storage
Request access to CPU and GPU services (high performance computing), data storage services and software for research purposes.
Specialized training
Complete specialized training through BuckeyeLearn that increases understanding of high performance computing terminology, hardware and access and job management.
Policy guidance
Access policy and procedural guidance to inform decision-making and aid execution of biomedical research.
Access and training for Research Computing Infrastructure (RCI)
Submit a request intake survey through the REDCap survey to describe your request and the extent of resources needed.
FAQs
RCI reviews requests and provides approval for the use of College of Medicine dedicated compute services (condo) through the Ohio Supercomputer Center, such as compute clusters and project storage.
Guests can attend any scheduled RCI meetings. Guests who have submitted requests for data storage greater than 10TB and completed training requirements for use of College of Medicine dedicated compute services can attend to present and respond to questions on requests.
Training requirements are being developed and will be available through BuckeyeLearn soon.
RCI meetings are virtual, on the 2nd Monday of each month from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Contact Curtis Walker at Curtis.Walker@osumc.edu for an invite to the RCI meeting.
College of Medicine dedicated compute services are available to approved College of Medicine users. To obtain access to the dedicated compute clusters and to project storage, please contact The Ohio State University College of Medicine Research Computing and Infrastructure subcommittee for RISST. Users are guaranteed access to their nodes; idle nodes may be made available to general users for jobs of less than 4 hours in duration.
For questions about RCI, contact the RCI Chair, Dr. Xia Ning at Xia.Ning@osumc.edu.
