This two-day course is designed to instruct general surgery residents and fellows (PGY 2 and up) in the newest techniques and instrumentation in minimally invasive colorectal surgery. Through didactic sessions and hands-on experience with a trainer robotic system in the cadaver lab, attendees will hone both laparoscopic and robotic skills in a variety of colorectal procedures. Completion of this course will enable participants to:
- Understand and utilize fundamentals of robotic surgery
- Understand and utilize anatomic principles in abdominal and pelvic colorectal surgery
- Perform common colorectal robotic procedures under supervision, including colectomy, low anterior resection, abdominoperineal resection, and ventral mesh rectopexy
