The Department of Surgery’s mission is to deliver high-quality patient care, contribute to innovations in medicine through basic and translational research and clinical outcome studies, and educate medical students and postgraduate trainees to insure an adequate supply of surgeons for the future.

CMIS Fellow Support Grant Fund - 315881 Provides training and educational support and related activities for fellows in Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (CMIS), as outlined in specific grant proposals/MOUs.

CMIS Research & Program Fund - 310270 Support the set-up and maintenance of CMIS Research Lab and provide program support for director of CMIS Research Lab in Department of Surgery.

CMIS Training and Education - 316229 Supports training and educational activities in the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery; allocated by division director.

Robotics in Surgery Education/Training Fund - 314089 Supports education/training in surgical robotics in Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery for practicing surgeons, residents, fellows and allied health professionals.

W. Scott Melvin CMIS Support Fund - 318188 Created in honor of Dr. Melvin's legacy as the first director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, the fund will support research activities within the center and to fund an annual lectureship in honor of Dr. Melvin.
