The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center was the first academic medical center in Ohio to implement a dedicated emergency radiology service to provide valuable responsiveness to the quickly changing local emergency/trauma environment. This is facilitated by (24/7/365) on-site availability of full-time fellowship-trained emergency radiologists for rapid examination coordination and interpretation, as well as for professional consultation.
The Division of Emergency Radiology utilizes the entire array of diagnostic imaging modalities (including x-ray radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound (US)) for the purposes of meeting the urgent diagnostic needs of medical emergency or trauma patients across the the Wexner Medical Center system. Sites serviced by faculty members in the division include:
- Two emergency/trauma departments with trauma designations (level 1 and level 3)
- Comprehensive stroke center
- Oncology emergency department
- Two urgent care centers
