As a tertiary medical center, with a very busy emergency department, trainees are exposed to a wide range of clinical problems and pathologic conditions. Students and residents are given the hands-on experience and training necessary to become successful healthcare providers.
As part of one of U.S.News & World Report's top ranked medical colleges, Ohio State's Department of Emergency Medicine offers excellent educational programs for medical students, residents and fellows.
Residency Programs
The Department of Emergency Medicine offer two residency programs. The Emergency Medicine (EM) Residency Program is a three year program designed to provide education and experience in the clinical, educational, administrative and research aspects of emergency medicine and its allied fields. The Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine (EM/IM) Combined Residency Program has combined excellence in leadership, residency training as well as academic and patient care opportunities.Fellowship Programs
The Department of Emergency Medicine offers eight separate fellowships in subspecialties related to emergency medicine including administration, EMS, global health, medical education, population health, geriatrics, research and ultrasound.
Medical Student Programs
The Department of Emergency Medicine has several opportunities for medical students interested in emergency medicine. Medical students have the opportunity to participate in ultrasound education through our Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG). In addition to emergency medicine elective rotations, advanced honors courses are also available.
