There is a crisis in young adult mental health, with more and more young adults (ages 18y-26y) being diagnosed with behavioral health conditions. Simultaneously, mental health stigma is improving. Due to sociopolitical and financial restrictions, access to care is not expanding to meet the rising mental health needs of this population. This one-year non-accredited fellowship provides participants with the opportunity to gain expertise in young adult mental health and emerge as a leader in this field. Fellows will have the opportunity to play a central role in developing effective approaches to preventative and ongoing care.

  • Rotations will occur at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center outpatient and inpatient facilities and at Columbus-area college counseling centers affiliated with OSUWMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.
  • Fellows will lead research initiatives to examine mental health programming in this population.
  • Fellows will gain expertise in working with special populations within young adult mental health, including those with eating disorders, those who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those who identify as BIPOC.
  • Fellows work within interdisciplinary teams and have opportunities to engage with leading experts across the country.
