Department of Radiology benefits
Review an overview of the the eligible benefits for radiology fellows, including funding, time off and other ancillary benefits.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center offers full medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance coverage. Professional liability insurance covers all patient-care activity occurring within the scope of the training program.
Travel and vacation benefitsThe Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides fellows with a minimum of two weeks of paid vacation per year. The Department of Radiology, however, provides three weeks of vacation. We advise fellows to plan as far in advance as possible. The maximum number of vacation days that a fellow can take from one rotation period (four weeks) is one week, or five weekdays, without section chief approval.
Fellows are allowed one week of meeting attendance time per year. Up to $1000 can be used for conference attendance or toward non-electronic educational materials. Fellows are also allocated up to $500 in reimbursement to attend a board preparation course. Up to an additional $1000 may be requested if a fellow is presenting at a national meeting.
Sick and maternity benefitsMaternity and paternity leave
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides up to six weeks of paid maternity leave and three weeks of paid paternity leave. No moonlighting during maternity or paternity leave will be permitted. Fellows should be aware that the amount of leave taken may affect their ability to meet the requirements of the applicable certifying board. Because the length of maternity or paternity leave may impact the amount of time allowed away from a training program by a certifying board, the program director may utilize vacation time, sick leave, personal days or conference leave to accomplish completion of the training requirements within the standard training period. The program director will attempt to obtain American Board of Radiology (ABR) approval whenever appropriate, however, the ABR decision is the final decision.
Our policy is in compliance with the institutional policy for sick leave. Radiology fellows are considered full-time and accrue paid sick leave at a rate of 10 hours per month for a total of 120 hours per year.
