About the ARVO Annual Meeting
The Annual Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) meeting is considered to be the largest gathering of eye and vision researchers in the world with over 11,000 attendees from 75 countries. Each year, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences sends multiple researchers and physicians to this event to present their newest research innovations.
Alumni Support ARVO Grand Rounds
Over the years, Fred Kapetansky, MD and Marilyn Huheey, MD have been a conduit for relaying the latest medical advances presented at the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology
(ARVO) Annual Meeting. Together, they coordinate a yearly Grand Rounds where the latest information is relayed to physicians, medical students and faculty members.

ARVO Annual Meetings
Achieving Precision Ophthalmology Through Innovative Vision Research
The Annual Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) theme for this year addresses how innovative vision research is driving the evolution of precision ophthalmology. By integrating breakthroughs in stem cell research, genetics, gene editing, artificial intelligence, and advanced imaging technologies, we are unlocking new possibilities for understanding, diagnosing, and treating ocular diseases.
The 2026 ARVO Annual Meeting will be held on May 3 - 7, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, and is the premier global gathering for eye and vision scientists, students, and those in affiliated fields to share the latest research findings and collaborate on innovative solutions.
Imagining Innovation and Intelligence in Vision Science
The 2025 ARVO Annual Meeting was held on May 4 - 8, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and showcased new research and provided opportunities to network with colleagues and industry thought-leaders.
The theme of this years meeting addressed how vision research is continually being transformed by new information and technologies. Exponentially expanding computing power is giving rise to improved artificial intelligence and powerful big data. Increasingly sensitive and elegant molecular techniques, including CRISPR and mRNA technologies, as well as more sophisticated imaging modalities, virtual reality, and breakthroughs in gene therapy catalyze our research as we aim to treat, cure, and ultimately prevent blinding eye diseases.
The 2024 ARVO Annual Meeting met in Seattle May 4-9, 2024 where international basic and clinical researchers shared the latest breakthroughs in vision research.
