Dr. Ellison currently serves as a professor emeritus of Surgery.Mike Corfias, MD, ’98 Res was inducted to the Campbell Alumni Association Hall of Fame
Dr. Corfias is an anesthesiologist and has remained in Campbell throughout his career. He sponsors a scholarship through his church, St. Michael the Archangel, and contributes to athletic programs and organizations at Campbell Memorial High School. He and his family have also established a scholarship at high school alma mater.
Daniel Clinchot, MD, ’92 Res named a recipient of the 2024 Alpha Omega Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award
Dr. Clinchot is currently the Vice Dean for Education, Associate Vice President for Health Sciences Education, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Education and Anatomy, and professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was just one of four people selected to receive the award. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
Residency graduate and assistant professor of Internal Medicine Lapo Alinari has received a five-year grant from the National Cancer Institute.
The grant is to support his research titled “Targeting c-Myc stability in c-Myc overexpressing large B-cell lymphoma.”
Congratulations to Ohio State Emergency Medicine professor Howard Werman, MD, ’84 Res, on receiving the Jack B. Liberator Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Werman received the award at the Ohio Department of Public Safety EMS Star of Life Event.
Congratulations to Carmen Quatman, MD, ’16 Res, Vidya Raman, MD, and Meredith Lind, ’02 MD, on being selected for The Executive Leadership in Health Care program.
The program is a year-long fellowship intended for women in mid-career to senior-level positions in the U.S. and Canadian health systems. All three of these alumni are current professors in the College of Medicine.
William B. Farrar, MD, an Ohio State residency graduate and current CEO of The James Cancer Center, has announced his plans to retire.
Dr. Farrar served nearly five decades as a surgical oncologist and plans to retire, effective in July of this year. Read more.
Residency graduate Doreen Agnese, MD, has been named chief of staff-elect at the Ohio State James Cancer Center.
Dr. Agnese is a clinical professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Agnese will serve as a liaison between the hospital and its medical staff and as a chair of the bylaws committee. Read more (internal-access only)
Fellowship graduate Floor Backes has been elected as a board member for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO).
Dr. Backes is also a professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at The Ohio State University.

Jonathan Goike, MD, ‘16 Res, has been awarded the Office of Graduate medical Education’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Goike is currently an assistant clinical professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
