Research Associate

Schwimmer is a Research Associate within the Division of GIM. He is research coordinator for the OSUWMC’s site in a multisite, NIDA-funded randomized controlled trial aimed at stopping subthreshold opioid use disorder from progressing. He recruits, screens, enrolls and collects study data from physician and patient participants. He assists with IRB submission and helps ensure that study activities are done in compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, he is the project coordinator for AHRQ and USPSTF systematic literature reviews about screening test accuracy and treatment effectiveness for various health conditions. In this role, he reviews literature for eligibility, extracts and organizes relevant data, and helps draft evidence synthesis reports and manuscripts. A key part of this includes preparing summary tables and figures to illustrate scientific findings. He also manages bibliographic databases for the reports and manuscripts based on this work. He coordinates regular internal project meetings and meetings with external stakeholders. The most recently completed project he has coordinated was about Screening for Hearing Loss in Older Adults. Previously, Schwimmer was a Project Coordinator at the Research Triangle International-University of North Carolina Evidence-based Practice Center (RTI-UNC EPC) from 2011 to 2021. His work has been supported by AHRQ, PCORI, and Washington State’s Health Care Authority.
